Cacúlo: Touring | Em Tour | Ar Daith is the second of two catalogues produced to accompany the official touring exhibitions at Llantarnam Grange and Ruthin Craft Centre. This volume focuses on deepening the ideas behind the touring show.
The catalogues includes a preface by Philip Hughes who at the time was the director of Ruthin Craft Centre for over thirty three years. He has championed and supported the careers of hundreds of makers and promoted Contemporary Craft both nationally and internationally.
The essay, Where we to? by Dr. Ashley Thorpe explores theories of globalisation, alter-modernism art and translation in relation to the exhibited work. Dr. Thorpe Thorpe is a collector of ceramics, writer, playwright, performer and academic. He currently teaches Drama at Royal Holloway, University of London, where he gained his PhD. Publications include, Bridging the Divide: The poised Sculpture of Tessa Eastman, Contemporary British Studio Pottery: forms of expression and Julian Stair: Memory, Material, Ceramics.
The publication is illustrated throughout with imagery of work in progress, studio shots as well as installation shots both at Llantarnam Grange and Ruthin Craft Centre. It also includes a comprehensive list of works exhibited in all venues as well as a biography.
This project and publication was made possible with the Create Funding from Arts Council of Wales.
